While established in Ireland Ecco Spray Ltd embodies the European spirit of collaboration and cooperation. Ecco Spray Ltd registered in Ireland (CRO Number 711459) is an Irish- German company with a head office in the new Portershed building at the Bowling Green in the Galway Innovation District, right in the heart of the Medtech ecosystem in Ireland.
The Story
Behind the Brand
Professor Dr. Med. Helmut Haas (†) was an inspirational and entrepreneurial example of how medical professionals can continue to shape their field well beyond active clinical practice.
In the later years of his career, Professor Haas developed, tested, and patented his ultrasound contact spray through more than 10,000 clinical examinations. Rather than stepping back in retirement, he co-founded Ecco Spray Ltd with a clear mission: to modernise a healthcare practice that had seen little meaningful innovation in over 40 years, particularly in relation to inefficient and environmentally unsustainable ultrasound gel usage.
His work now underpins the continued development and global rollout of PoCUS ECCO Spray, aligning with major healthcare priorities including infection prevention, workflow efficiency, and sustainability. As healthcare systems across the EU and UK move towards net-zero targets, and as point-of-care ultrasound continues its rapid expansion, Professor Haas’s innovation is more relevant than ever.
His legacy lives on through the ongoing adoption of spray-based ultrasound coupling, helping to reshape everyday clinical practice for the better.
